Since January 2022, many individuals already serving the town have changed their registration to Independent and continued to serve in their existing seats. Others have come forward as registered Independents to serve for the first time. There are now two parties in town that can occupy the rest of the seats not taken by the majority party. Remember, the majority is only permitted to be the majority by one member so there are many seats for Independents.
